About Us

IEEE, pronounced “Eye-triple-E”, stands for the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers.

IEEE (Professional)

IEEE, an association dedicated to advancing innovation and technological excellence for the benefit of humanity, is the world’s largest technical professional society. It is designed to serve professionals involved in all aspects of the electrical, electronic and computing fields and related areas of science and technology that underlie modern civilization.

IEEE (Student)

Rowan IEEE's Student Branch is a University club, much like any other. Our branch is apart of IEEE Region 2. We accept students of all majors who want a fun, relaxed place to improve themselves professionally and technically.

Events

We hold a variety of events throughout the semester to provide unique opportunities for members to hone their skills while also having fun! If you would like to help get involved with planning these events, consider joining the IEEE Strategic Planning Committee by

General Meetings

General meetings are held bi-weekly on Fridays at 2PM in the Rowan Hall Auditorium. Typically, we will talk about upcoming events followed by a small presentation, seminar, or guest speaker. Pizza and drinks are provided!

Outside Activities

It's always nice to have some fun, so we host many different activities avaliable to all of our members free of charge! Some of our previous activities include paintball, TopGolf, trampoline parks, and many others.

Technical Workshops

To engage our members, we like to hold workshops to help you expand on your technical knowledge! Some of our previous workshops include Resume building, Git, Verilog, Arduino, PCB design, and many others.

Profhacks

Profhacks is our largest annual event! It is a 24-hour Hackathon where you can create innovative hardware and software solutions to solve real world problems. Go solo or with a team and follow the theme, or just build whatever your heart desires! There are a variety of different activities you can do including:

  • 3D Printing
  • Programming
  • Playing Games
  • Attending Workshops
  • Getting Free Merch
  • Winning Prizes
  • HAVING FUN!!!

Last event was ProfHacks 2023, which was the 8th iteration of our annual hackathon. The theme of the hackathon was "Haunted Hack", which had a series of spooky events and activities involved with it. Click here to visit the current ProfHacks website!

Profbots

Profbots is another one of our big events typically held in the fall where you build a Sumobot from scratch and compete against others to knock the other bot out of the ring! There will be a variety of workshops leading up to the event to help you assemble and program your Sumobot. These include:

  • Soldering Workships
  • Arduino Workshops
  • 3D Printing Workshops

There are 2 different competitions with Profbots: Kit and Scratch. Kit allows you to only use the base Sumobot kit, but the Scratch competition allows you to customize your bot with attachments, 3D prints, etc.

To make sure you stay up to date on events, make sure to follow us on social media and most importantly,
